Privacy notice
This notice explains what Mockwell collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. The site is run by the owner of Mockwell. You can reach us through the contact page.
What we collect
- Your account: your name, your email address and your password. We store the password only as a scrambled code (a hash), so nobody, including us, can read it.
- Your practice: the tests you ask for, your answers, your written texts, your practice estimates and the target scores you set.
- Messages you send us: the name, email address and text you type on the contact page, kept only to answer you and deleted at the latest 90 days after we have read it, or 180 days after you sent it.
- Security records: a scrambled code made from your connection's address (IP address) and from the email address typed at sign-in, deleted within two days, to stop automated sign-ups and password guessing.
Speaking practice is recorded in your own browser and played back to you there. The recording is never sent to us.
Why we use it
- To create and protect your account, and to send you a link if you forget your password.
- To open the tests you ask for and to show you each decision (with its reason, if a request is not approved).
- To show your results, explanations and progress.
We use your data because you agreed to it when you created your account, and because we need it to provide the service you asked for. We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not use your data for marketing.
Who else sees it
Your data is stored on our own rented server. The only email we send you is a password reset link when you ask for one. It goes through an email service, which receives your email address and the message only to deliver it. Nobody else receives your data unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account and all your practice data are deleted straight away. Server backups that may still contain it are overwritten within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time from the Account page. This also withdraws your consent.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it, through the contact page.
- If you think we have mishandled your data, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Age
The site is for people aged 18 or older. Younger learners may use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect forms against misuse. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.
Changes
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top and tell signed-in users about important changes.
